FLORIMO®
Raised Bed

When planting, make sure you buy a product of guaranteed quality!
From a Hungarian manufacturer!

Raised beds are spreading like wildfire in both urban and rural areas, taking home and hobby gardening to a whole new level. A raised bed is a garden bed built above ground level, which we construct ourselves. It can serve as an ornamental garden and also provide us with vegetables and fruit throughout the season.

Our general recommendations for potting soils and growing media containing wood fibre:

  • When planting, it is advisable to mix perlite into the soil to improve water retention.
  • To ensure an adequate supply of nutrients, it is advisable to use organic or mineral fertiliser at the time of planting, even if this means changing our previous practice. In a fibrous growing medium, particular attention must be paid to the plants’ nitrogen supply.
  • Options for replenishing nutrients:
    • Fertiliser solution: Apply every 1–2 weeks, or regularly in smaller doses mixed with the watering water. Don’t neglect your plant – keep an eye on its growth!
    • fertiliser stick: placed near the root zone, it ensures a continuous supply of nutrients.
The two approaches can be combined, but they should be used in moderation.
  • Extra care is required when watering:
    • the medium may dry out more quickly
    • The surface may appear dry, whilst it is still damp underneath, so always check the deeper layers of the soil as well
  • Let’s take extra care to conserve water! To help with this, we recommend:
    • our ground cover plants,
    • our decorative clay granules

It really does matter what quality of potting compost you buy. Choose the quality assured!

pH 6.92

Specialised growing medium for garden flowers, shrubs and vegetables.

Usage

For planting garden flowers and transplanting vegetable plants (peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers).

Raw materials

A mixture of sphagnum peat, fen peat, composted cattle manure, clay and artificial fertiliser.

What does this product contain?

Baltic (moss) and fen peat

subject of composted beef

Clay

Fertiliser blend

Baltic (moss) and lowland peat: It helps to make the soil lighter and looser, and increases its organic matter content. During short periods of drought, sphagnum moss supplies water to the plants. As a result, the plants adapt very easily to a lack of watering.

Subject: Composted beef: a nutrient-rich organic substance that is immediately available during growth.

Clay: The predominant fine particles are capable, at a molecular level, of binding water and release it only with difficulty. As a result, it forms excellent water-retaining layers. As a growing medium, it behaves like a cohesive soil. It is a material that changes volume depending on its water content. Black peat also contains a certain amount of clay.

Fertiliser blend: In our environment, as a result of the harvesting of crops, the topsoil becomes depleted, particularly in nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compounds. These must be replenished in the soil; otherwise, the soil will become exhausted and will not yield a sufficient harvest. Some of these elements can be replenished with natural manure, but artificial fertilisers are also needed to ensure that the missing elements are replenished at the right time.
