Ideally, our indoor plants thrive and flourish, but over time, their pots become cramped, which restricts proper root development. When this happens, repotting becomes necessary. Spring is the ideal time for repotting because it establishes optimal conditions for our plants in the upcoming season.
- Do we need a larger pot? Not necessarily, sometimes just replacing the potting soil is sufficient.
- When do we need a larger pot?
- When the roots have encircled the current pot and are protruding from the bottom or top.
- For large pots and planters, just changing the topsoil may be adequate.
- If the leaves turn yellow, flowering is weak, or there is little or no yield, we need to replace the potting soil.
- If the soil becomes compacted and the roots cannot grow properly, we need to replace the planting medium.
Did you know?
- It is recommended to water your plant an hour before repotting.
