When should we consider repotting our garden soil?
The quality of garden soil is reflected in the growth of plants. In inadequate or depleted soil plants struggle to access essential nutrients needed for their development. As a result, they weaken and become more susceptible to diseases, leading to diminished growth and yields.
What should the gardener do in such situation?
Considering chemical soil improvement may produce results, but it might only provide a temporary solution to the underlying issue.
Another approach is soil rejuvenation, which should be tailored to the extent of depletion in the current medium. In some cases, simply replacing the top layer typically around 10-15 cm deep is sufficient. The quality of the selected soil determines what we can successfully cultivate in our garden.
While mixing the existing soil with new planting medium is often a practical solution, but it may backfire if it doesn’t yield the desired results by the end of the season.
