Brown, loose-textured growing medium
The key to successful rhododendron care lies in the choice of the right planting medium. Rhododendrons thrive in acidic, well-drained soil (pH 4.2-5.5) enriched with organic matter.
When replanting, moisten the medium and place the plant in a pot that is 2-5 cm larger than the original one. For shrub planting, create a hole about 40-50 cm deep to prevent water stagnation around the roots. Start with ceramic shards or clay granules at the bottom, followed by a layer of the growing medium. Insert the plant and surround it with rhododendron potting soil, securing it with thorough watering. To prevent drying out, you can place pine bark on top of the soil. After 4-6 weeks, we recommend fertilizing with nutrient solutions suitable for the specific plant type.
